Can Chesterfield maintain their revival?

Chesterfield go into tomorrow’s game at home to table-toppers Charlton Athletic hoping to keep up their League One revival in recent weeks.

Halfway through the season, the Spireites looked certain to make an immediate return to League Two after being firmly rooted to the bottom of the division.

But while they find themselves in the same position, their recent form has given the fans renewed hope of survival following an upturn in fortunes.

Manager John Sheridan has overseen his squad build momentum with just two defeats in their last seven games to leave them just three points behind Wycombe just outside the relegation zone.   View full article »

Yesterday it was reported that Swindon Town “bad boy” Leon Clarke and Charlton striker Paul Benson were extremely likely swap clubs when the transfer window re-opens on Sunday.
You may remember Clarke from earlier in the season when he had a bust up on the pitch and in the tunnel with his then manager Paolo Di Canio which saw Swindon announce he would never play for the club again and they immediately sent him out on loan to Chesterfield.
Despite not spending the whole of the campaign to date in League One and the fact that Chesterfield are struggling badly lying rock bottom of the table Clarke still finds himself 4th in the list of top scorers in the division this term.
